Derek Pleadwell BA'93, derek_pleadwell@skillsoft.com

Derek Pleadwell graduated from St. Thomas University in 1993 with a double major in History and Sociology. Upon completion of his BA degree, Derek went on to pursue his education degree and graduated from St. Thomas in 1994.

Originally hailing from the Miramichi, Derek has made Fredericton his home and since graduation has been actively involved in the Alumni Association. Derek first served as a Director at large and has now taken on the responsibility as Alumni President, a position he was appointed to in March of this year.

He currently works in the IT industry and has held several positions within local New Brunswick companies. Presently he works with the largest e-learning company in the world, SmartForce as a team leader for content development.

Neil Clements graduated from St. Thomas University, BA '98, with a major in History and a minor in Native Studies. He went on to a Bachelor of Law specializing in Family Law, from Dalhousie Law School in Halifax, NS. After completing the New Brunswick Law Society Bar Admission's Course, he was admitted as a member of the New Brunswick Law Society in 2002.

The Law Office of Neil Clements is located in Fredericton, NB. Besides running his law office, Neil is also very involved with the community. He has been a guest lecturer for UNB, Public Legal Education and Black History Month. Besides his volunteer work with St. Thomas University, he has donated his time to other organizations such as PRUDE Inc. Cultural Centre, Legal Aid Clinic, Saint John volunteer centre, and with the Nova Scotia Barristers Society Premier's Steering Committee on the Status of Black and Native Law Students in Nova Scotia. Neil is also a member of the St. Thomas Drama Club, the Halifax Rugby Club, the Saint John Trojans Rugby Club and the Fredericton Loyalist Rugby Club.

Shawn Rouse

Shawn Rouse graduated from St. Thomas University in 1996, with a degree in Political Science and a minor in English. While at St. Thomas, Shawn was heavily involved with the Student Union. He served two terms as Vice-President Administration of the SU as well as two years on the University Senate. He was also twice-elected President of the New Brunswick Student Alliance, the provincial student union comprised of all New Brunswick universities. At graduation, Shawn was the 1996 recipient of the Tom McCann Memorial Trophy and Gold "T" Award for his contributions.

Shawn, his wife, Amanda (BA '98), and son, Zachary, reside in Saint John. Working as a Systems Analyst at xwave for 4 years, Shawn is an IT consultant to many large and small local businesses. His current role is designing and implementing internet-related systems integration.
