The sun was shining and people were smiling as the St. Thomas University Alumni Association held its 3rd annual golf tournament.

The event took place at the Riverbend Golf and Fishing Club where some 60 golfers participated in a round of 18 holes and then were treated to a steak dinner. Approximately $4,000 was raised for the Millennium Bursary Fund, established to aid students with financial need.

The most honest golfers were from left, Carmelita Thompson-O'Neill, Anne Smith, Jane Buckley and Leitha Dean.

Many thanks to our corporate sponsors (Johnson Insurance, MBNA Canada Bank, Pepsi Bottling Group, RBC Dominion Securities, Clarica, Thelma Innes of Remax Group 4 Realty, ScotiaMcLeod, The Washburn Financial Group Advisors Inc. and Acadie Presse) and prize donors this year. A special thank you to George Bradbury, BA ‘71, of Bradbury Hyundai for providing a vehicle for a hole-in-one prize on the 13th hole, and also to Jason George of Investor’s Group for providing the $10,000 hole-in-one prize on the 10th hole as well as the $100.00 cash prize to the individual who was closest to the pin.

This year’s winners, with a score of 5 under par, were Jim Cooper, Andrew Fortune, Eric Jamieson and Keith MacDonald. Congratulations to all the winners!

The winning team were feeling good after their big victory.

While it is time to put away the clubs for another season, it is not too early to start thinking about next year’s tournament. If you have any suggestions or preferences concerning next year’s event, please do not hesitate to contact the alumni office by phone at 506-452-0602, or email kathyl@stthomasu.ca.

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing all alumni and friends on the course again next year!
