David Burrell, BA ‘65, was elected to the Riverview Town Council in May 2001 for his third term.

Douglas J. Underhill, BA’68, BEd ‘69, has written a new book entitled Proud Stories of the Miramichi. It hit the shelves July 1st.

1970's

Guy Delisle, BA ‘70, took an early retirement from Air Canada in 1998 and is currently working as Sr. Legal Counsel for the National Energy Board in Calgary, AB.

Anita Adilman, BA ‘72, is proud to announce that both her daughters have successfully completed their BA degrees. Sari graduated from St. Thomas in May and Leah graduated from Carleton in June.

William C. Thurrott, BA ‘72, BEd ‘73, has retired from Nackawic Elementary School after 30 years of teaching.

1980's

William Taylor, BA ‘81, was appointed principal of D.R. Hamilton School in Cross Lake in August 2000.

John L. McLaughlin, BA ‘82, is Assistant Professor of Theology and Religious Studies and Director of the Master of Arts in Applied Theology Program at Wheeling Jesuit University, Wheeling, West Virginia. In June of 2001, his book Examining the Marzeah, An Ancient Semitic Religious Drinking Feast was published.

Laura J. Richards, BA ‘85, has left Canada to work and live in New Zealand. She is working for the North Shore Times Advertiser newspaper and lives on a farm with her new partner.

James Higgins, BSW ‘86, BED ‘90, BA’99, recently completed a Masters in Educational Administration and graduated from the University of New Brunswick in October. He will be returning to St. Stephen Middle School while seeking employment at the district department on higher education levels.

Thomas Isaac, BA ‘87, has recently become an associate of the law firm McCarthy Tétrault LLP in the Business Law Section of the firm’s Vancouver Office. Prior to joining the firm, he was a Chief Treaty Negotiator for the Government of British Columbia and Assistant Deputy Minister responsible for the Government of the Northwest Territories. He has published extensively in the areas of aboriginal and constitutional law including the text Aboriginal Law: Cases, Materials, and Commentary (2d ed.), used in law schools and universities across Canada and the U.S.

Gary Swain, BA ‘88, BEd ‘89, has completed a Masters in Education from the University of Toronto as well as a Masters of Religious Education from St. Michael’s University. He is currently a Vice-Principal at Saint Nicholas Bari in Toronto. Gary resides in Etobicoke with his wife Amy and their three children, Meghan, Nathan and Keenan.

Mary F. McCormack, BSW ‘89, married Michael Daniel in July 2000. Mary also became a step-mother to Alicia who is 12 years old. Mary graduated with a Masters in Social Work in November of 2000 from the University of Toronto.

Michael Comeau, BA ‘89, has been appointed Director of Research and Planning for the New Brunswick Department of Justice. He has been a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick since 1992. Michael resides in Fredericton with his wife Colleen, BA ‘93, BEd ‘94, and their son David.

Kathleen (Shaw) Bisgaard, BA ‘89, BEd ‘90, married Erik Bisgaard in August 2000. The couple now reside in Thornbill, ON, where Kathleen is teaching French Immersion in Etobicoke for the Catholic School Board.

1990's

Eric Giddins, BA ‘90, completed a Masters of Business Administration at St. Mary’s University in 1993. Upon completion of his masters degree, he worked in corporate management for Crown Plaza Hotels and Resorts in Toronto, Atlanta and Winnipeg. In 1996, he joined American Express as an Account Director in Winnipeg. He then entered Toronto’s St. Augustine’s Seminary in 1997 to study to be a Catholic priest. In July of this year he was ordained to the diaconate and in the spring of 2002 will be ordained to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Winnipeg.

John Murphy, BA ‘91, finished his MIT ED in 1999. It was a joint degree from Dalhousie University and ITI. John is currently a faculty member at the first U.S. ITI School.

Susan (Ewart) Broderick, BA ‘94, married Dan Broderick, BA ‘94. The Brodericks currently reside in Quispamsis where Susan is working with JD Irving Limited in the Sawmills Accounting Department and is pursuing her CGA designation. Dan is finishing his last year of the MBA program at UNBSJ while employed by Thornes.

Arpita (Kotecha) Pattani, BA ‘95, was married in September of 1999. Arpita and her husband currently reside in Texas.

Stacey Wilson Forsberg, BA ‘95, married Patrick Forsberg in 1996. Stacey received her MA in Political Science/International Development from Dalhousie University in 1998. Stacey worked at the Organization of American States in Washington, DC and since 1999 has been working as a policy analyst at the Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL), specializing in Canada-Mexico Relations.

Paula Landry, BA ‘96, is now working for the eLearning section of the New Brunswick Department of Education as the distance facilitator for Spanish.

Luna Mikel, BSW ‘96, was married to Morris Mikel in September of 2000. Luna currently resides in Chicago, IL, and is working as an intercountry adoption social worker.

Olivia Sutthery, BA ‘96, married Robin Jenkins in St. Lucia in November 2000. Olivia is currently working at a downtown law firm in Toronto.

Elizabeth (Lisa) Diotte, BA ‘96, graduated from UNB in May 2001 with a law degree. She is currently articling with the law firm Gilbert, McGloan, Gillis in Saint John, NB.

Angela (Seeley) Stephenson, BA ‘97, married Chris Stephenson in August 2000 and is now teaching at Southern Carleton Elementary School in Woodstock.

Christopher Weagle, BA ‘98, has completed his Masters in English at the University of New Brunswick.

Hannah Fortune, BA ‘99 and BSW ‘00, is working as a probation/parole officer with the Ontario Ministry of Correctional Services. Hannah is also a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.

Daniel Legere, BA ‘99, completed his Master of Public Administration at Queen’s University in June 2001. Dan is now in his first year of Law at the University of New Brunswick.

Lesley (MacLean) McGuire, BA ‘99, married Craig McGuire in May 2001.

Jill Staples, BA ‘99, was Visitor Services Manager for the Beaverbrook Art Gallery. She returned to school to study digital communications with the NB Community College and currently works as a media artist for LearnStream Inc.

2000's

Heather (Branch) McChesney, BA'00 and her husband Jody

Heather (Branch) McChesney, BA ‘00, married Jody McChesney from New Liskeard, ON, in December 2000. Heather is currently finishing her Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and expects to be moving to Ontario in the new year.

Rebecca Smith, BA ‘00, is currently working as an immigration officer with the NB Department of Training and Employment in Fredericton, NB.

2001's

Darlene Lund, BSW ‘01, has been accepted into the MSW program at Sir Wilfred Laurier University. Darlene’s focus of study will be individuals, families and groups. Darlene was awarded a $3,000 entrance scholarship.

Shelley Rolland, BA ‘01, is currently working as a program coordinator for Best Buddies Canada. Shelley is residing in Toronto.

Melissa Agnew, BA ‘01, is currently enrolled in the Master of Library and Information Studies program at Dalhousie University
