Message from the Alumni Association President

Derek Pleadwell, BA ‘93, BEd ‘94

Hello St.Thomas Alumni,

I’m again amazed at the changes at St.Thomas over the past few months with the most noteworthy being the newly named Brian Mulroney Hall. I encourage all alumni to visit this beautiful new building and check out “Alumni Hall” which is the rotunda on the 3rd floor.

The new Alumni Association Board came together in June for a facilitated strategic planning session. From left to right are Neil Clements,Vice President, Misty Matthews, Director, Derek Pleadwell, President, Shawn Rouse, Treasurer, Peggy Holt, and kneeling is Stephanie Slaney, Director.

I’ve also been fortunate as your alumni president to be able to attend two more convocations that were beautifully administered on the St.Thomas grounds and my congratulations again to all recent grads who are reading this. I also want to welcome three new people to the Alumni Board of Directors, Misty Matthews, BA ‘98, Neil Clements, BA ‘98, Jill Knee, BA ‘98 and Lisa Diotte, BA ‘96. The entire board showed great enthusiasm and dedication during a recent facilitated strategic planning session. All alumni can be on the lookout for a new communications plan, mission statement, event calendar and even an upcoming logo contest. We’ve also had another very successful Annual St. Thomas University Alumni golf tournament with all of the proceeds going to support the Millennium bursary programme.

I’d also like to send a message of solidarity to the Social Workers, Probation Officers and others who are in negotiations with the province. I hope that by the time this magazine has arrived things are resolved in your professional capacity and you can enjoy its contents in peace.

As always, please feel free to e-mail me at derekp@fundy.net anytime.
