Welcome to the Fall edition of Connections. It is hard to believe another academic year is upon us. For many of you, this time of year brings back great memories of residence life, cafeteria food, enlightened chats over a game of cards, parties, dances, mass in the chapel and of course, classes. While I might envy the students now, I know I will change my tune come exam time.

The summer has come and gone quickly. The Alumni Association was delighted to welcome 348 new members during Spring Convocation and another 130 during Summer Convocation. Many of the grads I have spoken with are already gainfully employed and enjoying working life or persuing further academic studies.

The Alumni Association was also delighted to host receptions in Fredericton at Rigby Hall for graduating students this past May, in Moncton during the National Social Work Conference in June and at the Miramichi Irish Festival in July. The Annual Alumni Golf Tournament was also a great success. It was the first year we were able to have a shot gun start, so we had the whole course to ourselves. Thank you to everyone for your support of this event. All proceeds went to support the Millennium Bursary Programme for students with financial need.

As President Dr. O’Brien mentions in his message, there has been a lot happening at St. Thomas University. We are growing quickly and as always we would like to invite you to visit the campus and see the changes.

If you are on campus looking for the alumni affairs office, we have moved to the second floor of George Martin Hall, room 105. If you can’t join us physically, please visit us online at www.stu.ca. As always, we love to hear what is new with you and yours so keep us posted by using the form in the back of the magazine or email me at kathyl@stu.ca. Also, please join us for events. Your support and interest is always greatly appreciated.
