Linda (Tait) Aiton, BT 70, BA 71, and Dolores (Tait) Whalen, BT 70, lost their mother Alta Tait on January 18, 2002 and their father Alfred Tait on February 4, 2002. Both passed away peacefully in Fredericton. Brother, Patrick Hughes, also passed away in Fredericton, February 12, 2002. Donald Bonnell, husband of 34 years to Maureen (Coughlan) Bonnell, BA 66, BEd 67, and father of Maura (Bonnell) Tait, BEd 92, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 24, 2002. In loving memory of Sherry Lynn (Hatfield) Dick, BA 72, BEd 73, who passed away April 15, 2001. A year has gone by, but her loss is still strongly felt by her family and friends including her husband, Ron Dick, BA 71, BEd 72; her brother-in-law Norm Delano, BA 72, BEd 74; her nephew Charles Delano, BEd 98 and her niece Gillyon Delano, BA III. Dr. Henry J. Flood, father of Dianne Sharpe, BA 80, passed away peacefully in Saint John, NB, on February 15, 2002. Dr. Flood was the Chief of Radiology at St. Josephs Hospital for 35 years.
Mark Ireland, 90-94, was killed suddenly in Belize earlier this year. George J. Jenkins, St. Thomas University alumnus, former employee (Public Relations Department), and father of Claire Jenkins, BA 75, BEd 90, passed away February 15, 2002 in Saint John, NB. Mr. Jenkins retired from teaching in 1988, was elected to the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick in 1991, and was very active in many community organizations including the Knights of Columbus. Theresa Ouellette, mother of Brian Ouellett, BA 73 and Don Ouellette, passed away at her residence in Saint John April 19, 2002. Darrell Pond, BA 97, passed away suddenly December 30, 2001. Darrell attained a Certificate in Gerontology as well as his BA while attending St. Thomas. Norah Mickey Russell, of Mission, BC, passed away December 14, 2001. Norah was the sister of Most Rev. J Edward Troy of Saint John. Mrs. Lilian Troy, mother of Most Rev. J. Edward Troy, passed away in December, 2001. Bishop Troy served as Chancellor of the University and Chair of the Board of Governors from April 1986 until his retirement in the fall of 1997.Ben Scholten, BA 66, passed away April 11, 2002 in Fredericton. Mary (Killoran) Williamson, BSC 57, of Winchester, MA, passed away on August 30, 2001. Mary attended St. Marys School of Nursing in Montreal following St. Thomas. She then moved to Massachusetts, married and raised four children. Mary became a successful real estate broker in the town of Winchester where she lived for 35 years. Mary leaves her husband, Richard Williamson, four children and eight grandchildren. Hugh Robert
