Welcome to another edition of Connections. After a long New Brunswick winter, it is hard to believe that Spring Convocation is only weeks away. The association is busy with preparations for spring and excited by the prospect of inviting 400 potential new graduates into our community on May 12.

It has been an exciting year with alumni getting involved and staying connected. The alumni board has welcomed new energetic members and begun strategic planning, and the Student Alumni Association has been highly active on campus. Alumni chapters have been established in both Toronto (toronto@stu.ca) and Ottawa (ottawa@stu.ca). The Toronto group held their first event on Aquinas Day (January 28) and from all reports had a great time. In 2004, we hope to expand our feast day celebrations to other locations.

The Fourth Annual Gala Dinner, held February 1, 2003 in Fredericton, proved to be a huge success. More than 325 people attended and thanks to support from alumni, businesses and the greater St. Thomas community, the event raised $50,000 to support the Millennium Bursary Programme.

Thanks to your support, the Annual Giving Campaign has also been successful this year. The student callers have enjoyed speaking with many of you and we are pleased to announce that your participation is growing. This will give the University greater leverage as we approach other areas for funding.

Preparations are underway for the 5th Annual Alumni Golf Tournament to be held Friday, June 13 at the Mactaquac Golf Club. We are expecting a great turn-out once again and would love to see you there.

If you are on campus, please drop by the alumni office in room 105 George Martin Hall. If you can’t join us physically, please visit us online at www.stu.ca. As always, we love to hear what is new with you and yours so keep us posted by using the form at the back of the magazine or email me at alumni@stu.ca. Also, please join us for events. Your support and interest is always greatly appreciated.
