STU Rugby
A great time was had by all at the 2002 Old Boys Festival in Fredericton, NB this past October.

Friends of STU Rugby hosted a reunion weekend on Sunday Oct. 13 at the Loyalists Clubhouse & field in Fredericton, NB. Afternoon festivities started at 1 pm with an Over 35 “Old Boys” game with Old Tommies kicking off against the “younger “ STU graduates and present Stompin’ Tommies.

This “Over 35’s” game followed an “Old Boys Festival” format and all comers were welcome and veteran players from all clubs and affiliations were eligible to participate. Players were substituted at liberty. Any over 35 players in driving range of Fredericton were invited to attend. Veteran players contacted Peter Pacey to register, as will be the case for the reunion in 2003. The game was open to all under 35’s and St. Thomas University grads who were or were not presently playing throughout the Maritimes and Eastern Canada. Players travelled from as far afield as Ottawa and Halifax to attend the reunion. A spirited friendly match was anticipated with the Tim MacAfee coached Stompin’ Tommies as they were sporting a 3 and 0 record in the Maritime Universities Rugby League at the time.

On Saturday Oct. 12, also at Loyalists field, the Tommies played arch rival UNB in both A and B divisions in a match which surely decided the final ranking entering the play-offs. The Tommies “A” side won the match 38-24.
