Abstract:
Canadian university writing centres operate as separate entities,
with very little, if any, communication between centres. There exists only
limited data on how Canadian university writing centre programs function within
academia.
From surveys and interviews with key personnel, a comparison of quantitative
and qualitative results will be analyzed to determine differences between
programming and perceived measures of success of other university writing
centres. I will collect centres’ best-practises in programming and procedures
designed to increase that level of success. Research findings will be shared
with other Canadian university writing centres.
This Research Works-in-Progress session is an opportunity for writing centre administrators, instructors, tutors, and university faculty to meet and discuss the issues pertaining to the operation and function of centre programming.
