What do I need to know about printing?

Print credit is the type of debit system used in the computer lab. When a student prints something they will have that amount of credit automatically deducted from their print credit balance.

There are two black and white laser printers, and one color laser printer, in the James Dunn lab. The charge for printing from the black and white printers is $0.10 per page, and the charge for printing from the color printer is $1.00 per page.

You can only print to the color printer from the multimedia computer located in front of the help desk in the James Dunn lab. If you need assistance in printing color copies, or if there is any problems with the color printer, please see the lab assistant on duty.

At the start of every school year each student is given $4.00 in print credit. When their print credit balance is low they may purchase more print credit at the business office in George Martin Hall. The minimum print credit deposit is $2.00. After purchasing print credit they need to bring the business office receipt to the lab assistant on duty for that amount to be added to their print credit account.

The other method to get more print credit is to do a Night Deposit. This is a procedure that is done only when the business office is closed. To do a night deposit you have to leave a piece of identification with the computer lab assistant on duty and then more credit can be added onto your account. You are asked to leave a piece of identification because the computer lab does not accept cash. The only pieces of ID that we accept are student cards, driver licenses, or social insurance cards. Your identification is returned when you pay the business office and bring the receipt to the lab assistant on duty.

If you are unsure of your balance there are two ways you can check to see how much print credit you have left. The first way is to go to the Dos Prompt and type in "balance" without the quotes. And the second way is to check your balance is from the DougMenu (the main menu when you first log on) and select Network Utilities, and then select Balance of Printer Account.
