In an outdoor ceremony on Wednesday evening, 144 students received their degrees in Education, Social Work, Arts and Applied Arts at St. Thomas University's Summer Convocation. St. Thomas University President and Vice-Chancellor Daniel O'Brien conferred degrees upon 59 Bachelor of Education graduates, 22 Bachelor of Social Work graduates, 62 Bachelor of Arts graduates, and one Bachelor of Applied Arts. St. Thomas named Mr. Dick Quigg and Mr. Ronald LeBreton as honorary
fellows. Dr. O'Brien presented medals to the top scholars from the Bachelor of Social Work and Bachelor of Education programmes. Carla Goodyear, of Moncton, NB, received the University Medal for Academic Excellence: Bachelor of Social Work. Rachel Rennie of Alberton, PE, was awarded the University Medal for Academic Excellence: Bachelor of Education. Graduating students Paulette Gaudet, BSW and Heather MacKinnon, B.Ed. spoke on behalf of their graduating classes. Minister of Education Madeleine Dubé presented the Convocation address.
