July 15, 2005 St. Thomas University Summer Convocation
St. Thomas University awards Honorary Fellows for individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the disciplines of social work and education. A social worker and community activist, Gaynell Cloney-Bowlen has developed and delivered counselling services for single parent families, First Nations families, people living in poverty and victims of crime. For more than fifteen years, she was the Victims Witness Services Co-ordinator for the Fredericton City Police Department.
The Convocation Address will be delivered by Mr. Bernard Richard, Ombudsman of the Province of New Brunswick. Prior to his legal career, Mr. Richard was a social worker and later, while an elected representative, he was Minister of Education and Minister Responsible for Social Policy Renewal.
