St. Thomas University Hosts
Second Student Research and Ideas Fair

Fredericton – More than fifty students will be showcasing their research as St. Thomas University hosts its Second Student Research and Ideas Fair on Wednesday, March 16th from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm in Sir James Dunn Hall.

The presentations demonstrate the breadth of research being completed by students at the university. Topics include “Unmasking the Monster: Defending the Role of Dissent within Political Community”, “The Attentional Effects of Nicotine on Brain Waves”, “Nature of Martyrdom in David Adams Richards’ Evening Snow Shall Bring Such Peace”, “Selling Our Weapons to the Enemy: Issues in Arms Control”, and “Stories of Community-Based Restorative Justice: Volunteers Making a Difference”.

“From every perspective – the student experience, faculty engagement, and our institutional emphasis on excellence in teaching and open-minded inquiry – this Student Research and Ideas Fair represents the best of our values,” said Dr. Daniel O’Brien, President and Vice Chancellor.

“The abstracts for the papers indicate the high quality work that students are capable of producing when they are provided the opportunity to learn and practise critical thought. These students obviously welcome the challenge of presenting well-reasoned and clearly-presented arguments in a forum of academic learning,” he added.
