How to Apply

Regardless of how you intend to register — full time or part time, for degree credit or audit, in a programme or as a non-degree student — you need to be admitted to the university. The procedure is relatively simple:

  • Complete an application form available from the admissions office or by calling (506) 452-0532.
  • Arrange to have an official transcript of your high school marks or previous university marks, if applicable, forwarded to the admissions office.
  • If you've not completed high school and you're at least 21 years old, you could be admitted under the university's Adult Learner admissions policy. You should still arrange to have any school marks forwarded to the admissions office. In addition, you will need to send along a letter in which you describe your educational background, work and life experience, and academic plans. An interview with an admissions officer is often encouraged. You should be prepared to take a university course on a part-time basis in order to demonstrate your ability to succeed at university studies (a grade of C or better will ensure full-time admission).
  • If you've previously attended university and are seeking admission with advanced standing, be sure to arrange for the admissions office to receive an official copy of your university transcript. Remember that not all your previous credits may be transferable to your St.Thomas programme.

When your application material has been received and an admissions officer has had an opportunity to review your application and perhaps speak with you in person, you'll receive written notice of your admissions status.
