"We are a university primarily concerned with people..."
You've probably noticed that young people have yet to corner the market
on intelligence, enthusiasm and the thirst for knowledge. If you need
convincing, take a look inside one of our classrooms. You'll find adult
learners who have made the decision to invest some time and energy in
doing what they like to do best learning new skills and taking
a fresh look at the world around them. Our small classes, our tradition
of providing personalized attention, and our friendly, informal atmosphere
combine to make St. Thomas a rewarding place to study for students
of all ages.
Enjoying the Best of Two Worlds
While we are proud to offer our students all the advantages of a small
university, St. Thomas is unique in that we provide the best of both
worlds. Right next door is the University of New Brunswick with which
we share a wide range of services and facilities and where our students
can take elective courses in arts, sciences, and fine arts for full
degree credit at St. Thomas. This unique relationship between the two
universities provides our students with all the advantages of being
part of a small, intimate academic community and, at the same time,
the library, athletic, health, computing and cultural facilities of
an institution many times our size. And you'll be part of a community
where adult learners are very much at home.
There are close to 2,800 full-time and over 250 part-time students
at St.Thomas and about 100 professors. As a mature student, you can
take courses with us for your own interest, without credit or evaluation.
However, if you're like most adult learners, you'll want credit for
your university work and you'll have a goal in mind for your studies.
At St. Thomas you can choose degree programmes in arts, social work,
criminology, gerontology, journalism and education (if you already have
a degree), or certificate programmes in criminology and social justice,
or gerontology.
