Fredericton Youth-Senior Connection

"Breaking Down Barriers Between
Youth and Older Adults"

As part of a group of research projects under a Social Sciences and Humanities Research (SSHRC) grant entitled “Building Bridges: Linking Youth and  Community Through Education, Involvement and Dialogue” Dr. Bill Randall (gerontology) and Dr. Susan Reid-MacNevin (criminology) are exploring ways in which the misperceptions and myths about seniors and youth can be dispelled. This project is meant to be a learning opportunity for all participants to understand the hopes and horizons between generations so that in the future there may be more involvement between and among generations.

The planning sessions have provided an opportunity for the two groups to come together and brainstorm on issues that impede activities, that bring the generations together, as well as to start creatively planning for opportunities that might be mutually interesting for both groups.

* Generally the group meetings are on the fourth Thursday
of each month.  Please call the Centre to find out more on
  this program.
