Thom Parkhill's "Describe-the Millenium"
DNTO Contest Entry

In the late lamented comic strip "Calvin and Hobbes" Bill Watterson would betimes have the two protagonists play "Calvinball."[1] Usually masked for the occasion, Calvin and Hobbes race after one another past croquet wickets, soccer ball and flags-on-sticks at the ready. A typical score might be Q to 12. The only rule in Calvinball is that one can never play the game the same way twice.

Betwixt and between the millenia, we'll be lucky if we know the score.

In the same book Watterson notes that he has never licensed the images of Calvin and Hobbes. Thus, when you see Calvin and/or Hobbes on a T-shirt or coffee mug, you can be sure they're stolen. Says Watterson, "Only thieves and vandals have made money on Calvin and Hobbes merchandise." [12]
